The ED Medical officer (EDMO) role offers a unique opportunity to join a growing and dedicated Emergency Medicine (EM) team. The position requires applicants to be eligible for general or provisional registration as a medical practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulatory Authority (AHPRA). If AHPRA registration is limited, your application must include evidence that the level of supervision required is Level 2 or higher. Most EDMO positions are based at the Sunshine ED and Footscray ED. The role almost exclusively gives adult experience with Paediatric experience only available through a 3 month rotation to either Williamstown ED or a single highly sought rotation to the Sunshine Paediatric ED and cannot be assured at application. It is ideal for those with 2+ years post graduate experience, wanting a broad emergency experience. It may suit those not yet experienced enough for the ED Registrar role including GP trainees (who do not primarily need paediatric experience). At the same time, it provides an opportunity to complete an EM Certificate and obtain further experience to transition to an ED Registrar position.
