Emergency Care Tech position in the Emergency Department, providing patient care and support to RN staff, with responsibilities in quality, customer satisfaction, innovation, organizational climate, productivity, people growth, and economics.
Job Responsibility:
Provides quality patient care within the scope defined by the Nurse Practice act and Trinity Competency Program
Performs electrocardiograms
Draws blood specimens
Prepares unit, patient treatment area and stretcher
Demonstrates discretion
protects privacy of patient
Distributes nutrition service trays
Actively participates in the collection, development and reporting of data for CQI initiatives
Assists RN in provision of care
Assists with application of posterior molds
Observation and timely reporting of patient needs
Take and record vital signs, weight, intake and output
Responds to patient’s call light
Adheres to nursing policies, procedures and standards
Responds to emergency plans
Maintains unit cleanliness
Provides assistance to RN staff in triage, admission, transfer and discharge
Transport, transfer, lift and position patients
Provides postmortem care
Fits crutches and teaches crutch walking
Provide all customers with appropriate services
Maintains positive relationships
Serves as patient advocate
Resolves patient’s and customer’s concerns
Review Patient Satisfaction data
Participates in implementation of customer satisfaction strategies
Contributes to innovation efforts
Participates in organizational climate initiatives
Participates in implementing improvements to the units productivity
Establishment and achievement of self-development objectives
Contributes to cost containment and business growth initiatives
Requirements:
Certified as CNA, EMT, paramedic, or ERT with 2-3 yrs. of hospital or pre-hospital patient care experience
acceptance at an accredited medical school or completion of 2-3 years of nursing school clinical rotations
completion of a certified medical assisting program
Customer Focus Skills
Strong interpersonal communication skills
CNA, EMT, ERT, MA certification
Current CPR certification
Nice to have:
Prior experience with various age groups is preferred
