Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is the team behind the cloud. Within CO&I, the Global Datacenter Engineering (GDCE) team is responsible for delivering core Datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft’s cloud business. The MS portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year Datacenter construction and lease projects. We are looking for a passionate, high-energy individual to help build the cloud datacentres that power the world’s largest online services. Job Responsibility:
Collaborate with the Global Strategy team and Electrical Team to understand and develop the data center (DC) electrical design requirements
Lead and guide vendor subject matter experts in reviewing and coordinating electrical reviews, as well as keeping the team up to date on latest GDCE electrical updates to requirements
Review and report on lease provider design compliance with Microsoft requirements via internal tooling
Lead electrical workgroups with Lease providers and key stakeholders within Microsoft
Work closely with the lease program managers to provide project status updates, address and resolve issues raised by construction teams and stakeholders
Collaborate extensively with the global technical excellence teams, local engineering teams to provide the necessary electrical solutions and or mitigations for each project as required
Accountable for developing and seeking efficiencies in our processes, creating and developing tooling through the use of AI tools or otherwise to increase efficiency
Accountable as part of the team to ensure OKR’s are met and have a passion and drive for the best outcome for the team and Microsoft
Assist the EMEA Engineering team with data driven information for performance management of the Elec team and also external Lease Providers
Ability to identify the most significant project risks at the outset of a project, and develop plans to address those risks. Incorporate learnings back into the team from previous projects and have a learning & developing mindset
Requirements:
Experience leading the electrical design of large datacentre projects or similar industries
Registered chartered or professional engineer
Proficient in using engineering analysis to establish consensus and drive decision-making
Experience working in a multi discipline (CSA/M&E/Telecom) environment
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND technical engineering experience OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND technical engineering experience
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements
Ability to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter
