Job Description:

This is an APSAA opportunity. Elementary STEM Instructional Supervisor. Essential Skills and Abilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the outlined major responsibilities and duties satisfactorily. The responsibilities mentioned are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or abilities required. Job Responsibility:

  • Works with building administrators and teachers to develop the philosophy and goals of the STEM curriculum
  • Coordinates and evaluates the curriculum and instructional program and makes appropriate changes when necessary
  • Participates in planning, distributing, and monitoring the STEM program budget
  • Works with outside educational authorities and regulatory bodies on content-related initiatives
  • Formulates and implements professional development activities which address curriculum needs
  • Develops materials to enhance the instructional program
  • Works directly with classroom teachers to enrich instruction
  • Researches a variety of textbooks and materials and makes recommendations for purchase
  • Oversees state testing
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: The Instructional Supervisor supervises content-area faculty members and carries out these responsibilities in accordance with the district's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees

  • addressing complaints and solving problems

Requirements:

  • Valid NYS Administrative Certification (SDA/SDL)
  • A Master's degree plus five years of classroom experience

  • Progress monitor students at least twice per quarter using BRIDGES assessments. (Training around BRIDGES will be provided)
  • Monitor Dreambox student data to guide planning and update platform
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to study, research, and reflect upon best practices to share with various stakeholders
  • In collaboration with the Elementary STEM Supervisor and Math Coaches, the Math Interventionist will actively work to support district-wide curriculum and assessment development. This work includes but is not limited to: curriculum writing, text book/resource review and selection, NGMS alignment, distribution of math manipulatives, as well as any other ACSD curriculum protocols and initiatives
  • Participate in required monthly Math Interventionist meetings as organized by the Elementary STEM Supervisor
