Under the direction of the Electrophysiologist and the Nurse Manager, the electrophysiology technician II performs essential duties to assist the medical staff with the performance of diagnostic, interventional and therapeutic procedures within the electrophysiology lab setting. The Electrophysiology Tech II is highly trained and experienced in the Electrophysiology Lab. They are able to troubleshoot daily technical issues.
Job Responsibility:
Under the direction of the Electrophysiologist and the Nurse Manager, performs essential duties to assist the medical staff with the performance of diagnostic, interventional and therapeutic procedures within the electrophysiology lab setting
Monitoring and observing of patients during invasive procedures
Ensures that procedures are performed safely and efficiently
Provides and ensures a sterile procedural area
Assists during emergency interventions, responds to patient distress situations and assists with equipment, quality control, and inventory management
Functions in a high activity level, fast paced environment to ensure optimal patient outcomes
Provide technical and analytical support during invasive diagnostic procedures
Excellent communication, organizational and leadership skills
Proficient in providing hemodynamic management and cardiac rhythm interpretations
Ability to monitor all procedures
Ability to assist and scrub for all diagnostic and interventional procedures
Recognizes changes in patient status and condition and report those immediately to the proper medical staff
Demonstrates knowledge of specific cardiac conditions and diseases and possible treatments (under the guidance of the physician)
Participates in late team schedule
Understands and follows all hospital and departmental policies and procedures
Maintains accurate and complete documentation
Serves as a patient advocate and works in conjunction with anesthesia, physicians, nurses and other medical staff to provide excellent patient care
Requirements:
High School Diploma
Graduate from one of the following: accredited radiology technologist program, surgical scrub technologist program, or a related Health or Exercise Science Associate’s degree
American Heart Association ACLS Certification required
American Heart Association BLS Certification required
Knowledge of radiation safety
Advanced knowledge of cardiac anatomy and pathophysiology demonstrated by at least 3 years of experience
Knowledge in computer based imaging and hemodynamic management demonstrated by at least 3 years of experience
Proficient in EKG interpretation demonstrated by at least 3 years of experience
Proficient in EGM interpretation demonstrated by at least 3 years of experience
High, ability to learn and use multiple imaging, hemodynamic, and medical record systems
A minimum of 3 years of experience as an Electrophysiology Technician may be substituted for the professional education requirement above

Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) and Registration as Cardiovascular Technologist (RCVT)
