Job Description:

The Electronics Technician (ET) Supervisor will be responsible for working with the Program Manager and CNI Talent Acquistions in maintaining the staffing requirements to fulfill the Electronic Technician positions in the NPP. The ET Supervisor will be responsible for the administrative functions for the ET team to include timesheets, appraisals, training, travel documents and will work closely with the Program Manager and Admin team on additional requirements as needed. This position deploys to McMurdo Station, Antarctica to conduct work locally.

Job Responsibility:

  • Coaches and trains staff
  • Leads, supervises and mentors assigned staff
  • Oversees staff and exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities
  • Required travel to Antarctica up to 6 months a year
  • Works closely with the government project manager
  • Coordinates workshops and meetings
  • Recommends policies, doctrine, tactics, and procedures
  • Coordinates and interfaces with various Department of Defense (DoD), non-DoD, and international participants
  • Provides subject material to develop technical documentation
  • Responsible for ensuring that all ET contract deliverables are tracked and submitted on time
  • Reports the operational readiness, capabilities, limitations, and reliability of installed systems
  • Maintains and verifies work center safety requirements and equipment
  • Submits work requests for facility repairs
  • Collects and maintains accurate records
  • Conducts reviews of available test equipment
  • Calibrates and repairs sensors and test equipment
  • Provides general assistance for preparation of point papers
  • Documents and archives of all maintenance actions
  • Adheres to applicable configuration control policy and procedures
  • Adheres to applicable security policy and procedures
  • Schedules and conducts necessary training
  • Maintains an accurate tool inventory
  • Maintains current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification
  • Provides estimated airlift needs
  • Adheres to frequency management policies and procedures
  • Ensures inventory of spare parts/components is accurate and adequate
  • Conducts authorized modification, installation, and removal of equipment
  • Prepares updated drawings and other technical documentation
  • Prepares routine and special reports
  • Follows all applicable safety requirements
  • Supports flight checks/certifications of airfield systems
  • Ensures all assigned equipment operates/functions in accordance with applicable technical specifications
  • Ensures all Full-Time technicians meet all deployment requirements
  • Verifies that all technicians who deploy to Antarctica possess a valid driver’s license
  • Provides maintenance support availability up to 24 hours per day and 7 days per week
  • Provides maintenance support for systems that will require technicians to fly to locations
  • Maintains a written Master Station Log (MSL)
  • Measures and reports operational availability (Ao) of systems
  • Maintains and follows procedures for reporting system outages
  • Develops and provides reports
  • Maintains systems in accordance with applicable DoD or non-DoD information security requirements
  • Provides scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repair of NAVAIDS
  • Ensures proper NAVAIDS sighting and installation
  • Initiates requests for flight checks
  • Ensures voice recording/data-recording media is managed and secured
  • Ensures the necessary level of certified technicians are present
  • Provides scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repair of communications systems
  • Ensures proper communications systems installations
  • Maintains communications circuit access during contingency/backup operations
  • Complies with frequency management processes
  • Ensures the necessary level of certified technicians are present to setup, maintain, and remove current communications systems
  • Provides assistance to other technicians on communications components
  • Provides scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repair of meteorology systems
  • Maintains certified technicians to setup, maintain, and remove current meteorology systems
  • Attends necessary safety training and performing maintenance and repair on systems away from the normal work center

Requirements:

  • Valid USA passport
  • Able to obtain a T1 Clearance
  • Pass internal background checks
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Able to perform job duties in extreme, cold, dark, work environments
  • Pass medical and dental examination prior to deployment
  • Knowledge and experience performing hardware maintenance
  • Ability to follow directions and work independently or with a team
  • Reliable in attendance/punctuality
  • Ability to practice and promote required safety standards
  • Skilled proficiency conducting audits and utilizing quality management systems
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to persuade others and negotiate
  • Ability to organize work, set priorities, and determine resource requirements
  • Organization, problem-solving, resolution and critical thinking skills
  • Customer service and relationship-building skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • High school diploma or GED with formal training from a Technical School or Class A or B military school in electronics or communications and four years electronics apprentice programs
  • Two years of practical experience in electronics repair, maintenance and checkout
  • Four years of practical experience in Electronics Repair, Maintenance, Installation and Checkout
  • Two years of experience with aviation ground navigation systems, meteorology systems, or air traffic communication systems
