The Electronics Technician I position is accountable to the Work Group Lead (WGL) in WBS 130. This includes supporting, maintaining and development of the Telemetry and Radar Acquisition data Processing Systems (TRAPS), Mission Control Centers (MCC), data distribution and recording systems, Mobile Operations Facilities (MOF), Range Safety Station (RSS) and project owned Ground Control Stations (GCS). This position receives technical guidance from WGL, Field Service Engineers, and other senior technicians. Work is reviewed for compliance with accepted practices.
Job Responsibility:
Operate highly specialized telemetry real-time data processing and post flight processing systems in accordance with established procedures
Perform periodic maintenance on highly specialized telemetry real-time data processing and post flight processing systems in accordance with established procedures
Perform acceptance testing, diagnostics and repair of instrumentation/data acquisition system components, subsystems, and test devices
Assist with maintenance, usually under the direction of a higher-level technician
Interface with customers and other operations personnel in a professional manner
Utilize PC based peripheral systems in daily performance of job requirements
Maintain procedures, records, logs, mission/system databases, and adhere to the configuration control processes
Conduct pre and post flight checks and troubleshoot instrumentation/data acquisition systems to meet the flight test mission schedule
Assist with troubleshooting, usually under the direction of a higher-level technician
Assist the WGL and other higher-level technicians with the design, development, fabrication, installation and testing of hardware and software system modifications and upgrades
Perform other duties as assigned, to include supporting other work centers during surges
Perform housekeeping of the work area and equipment according to specified standards
Operate personnel lifts, government vehicles and climb antenna towers
Troubleshoot computer systems, networks, switches, and routers
Perform display buildup, compile 'C' real-time source code and utilize command lines tools to interact with systems
Requirements:
Must have a High School diploma or high school equivalent
Must have completed an Electronics Technician program (Associate Certified Electronics Technician, CETa), or an Information Technology certification (CompTIA A+, Security+ or Network+)
6 months minimum experience is required
1 year of related work experience is desirable
Ability to work independently, as well as within a team
Problem-solving skills to diagnose issues and devise solutions
Observational skills to notice potential problems during preventative maintenance tasks
Written communication skills to keep accurate reports
Interpersonal and oral communication skills to interact and collaborate with the team and the customers
Ability to safely utilize multimeters, oscilloscopes and soldering stations
Ability to fabricate and test coaxial and ethernet cables
Good understanding of Information Technology systems, and applications such as Microsoft Office Suite and Visio
Familiar with Windows and Linux operating systems
Ability to read, write and understand English
Ability to work under the pressure of a real-time mission environment
Ability to configure and operate highly specialized telemetry processing systems
Ability to recognize and correctly resolve problems in time critical situations
Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form
