Job Description:

We are looking for a detail-oriented Electronic Law Librarian to join our team on a long-term contract basis. This position involves creating and maintaining a comprehensive electronic database of legal documents, including court opinions, statutes, and ordinances, using advanced internet research methods. The role offers flexibility with hybrid or remote work options and requires a strong understanding of the U.S. legal system.

Job Responsibility:

  • Create and manage an organized electronic library of Supreme Court and 9th Circuit opinions, appellate decisions, federal and state statutes, city ordinances, and court rules
  • Use advanced internet-based research techniques to locate and retrieve historical legal documents and opinions
  • Maintain and enhance the accuracy of a database of civil complaints to improve research capabilities
  • Ensure the electronic database is user-friendly and accessible for internal research and external marketing purposes
  • Develop efficient systems for cataloging and updating legal documentation
  • Perform analyses to identify gaps in existing databases and recommend solutions
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure the database meets organizational needs
  • Apply knowledge of the U.S. legal system to categorize and organize legal documents effectively
  • Train and support team members in utilizing the electronic database and research tools

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Library Science or a related field, preferably recent graduates
  • Proficiency in internet-based legal research methods and techniques
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to create and maintain structured databases
  • Familiarity with U.S. legal systems, including court opinions, statutes, and ordinances
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities
  • Technical skills to manage and maintain electronic document libraries
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote or hybrid environment
  • Effective communication skills to assist team members and stakeholders
