The Electronic Equipment Trades Worker is a key technical role responsible for the installation, testing, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of a wide range of electrical and electronic appliances. The ideal candidate will possess solid technical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of workmanship. This role involves both workshop-based repairs and on-site customer support, ensuring all products meet operational and safety standards before resale and that customers receive excellent technical assistance.
Job Responsibility:
Installing, testing and commissioning household electrical appliances and consumer electronic equipment
Diagnosing faults in electrical, electronic and mechanical components using test instruments and technical manuals
Repairing, replacing and calibrating parts such as compressors, circuit boards, wiring, switches and motors
Performing preventive maintenance and quality assurance checks on refurbished and clearance appliances prior to resale
Assembling and disassembling appliances to identify issues and restore to operational condition
Providing after-sales service, technical support and on-site repairs to customers
Advising customers on proper operation, care and safe use of appliances and equipment
Maintaining accurate service logs, warranty records and repair documentation
Requirements:
Demonstrated experience in a similar role, servicing and repairing consumer electronics and household appliances
Strong proficiency in diagnosing and rectifying faults in electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems
Competence in using a variety of test instruments and interpreting technical diagrams and manuals
Hands-on experience with the repair, replacement, and calibration of appliance components
A methodical approach to preventive maintenance and quality assurance
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to assemble and disassemble complex equipment
Strong interpersonal and communication skills for providing clear technical advice and support to customers
High level of attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
Proficiency in maintaining detailed and accurate service and repair records
Relevant trade qualification or equivalent relevant work experience
Minimum one year of work experience on relevant position preferably in a retail or clearance outlet environment
