Job Description

We are currently seeking an experienced Electronic Design Engineer with at least 3 years of commercial experience and a strong understanding of electronic design and testing within a manufacturing environment. Experience working within a regulated industry would be highly advantageous. Our client develops advanced electronic systems deployed across the UK and is continuing to expand its engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the development of next-generation products, while also supporting the enhancement and maintenance of existing systems.

Job Responsibility

  • Collaborate with Embedded Software and Electronics Engineers to design, develop, modify, and test both new and existing systems
  • Design electronic systems and complete products, considering component availability, lifecycle, and long-term reliability
  • Develop and integrate hardware and software components to improve current platforms and support new product development
  • Conduct fault-finding and failure analysis activities from PCB level through to complete system level
  • Use a variety of test and measurement equipment, including oscilloscopes and digital multimeters, to evaluate PCBs and associated electronics
  • Design, develop, review, and test embedded firmware using C
  • Design, review, and test electronic hardware, including PCB development
  • Support the creation of new hardware and software assemblies to enhance both existing and future systems

Requirements

  • Commercial experience with both analogue and digital electronic design
  • Strong component selection, validation, and testing experience
  • Understanding of Embedded C development
  • At least 3 years of commercial experience

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of automated testing methodologies
  • Experience working within a regulated industry

  • Contribute to the design and development of power electronics systems, including inverters, converters, digital controllers, and power management systems
  • Create detailed engineering specifications, schematics, and layouts for power electronics products
  • Assist the team in the design, product development, testing, and troubleshooting of various high-performance power conversion products: AC-DC, DC-DC, DC-AC, or AC-AC at various power levels ranging from 1kW to 30kW
  • Ensure that regulatory requirements (e.g., UL, CSA, NEBS, FCC, CE, etc.) are met
  • Design and build DSP or MCU-controlled (fully digital) power conversion systems from concept to commercial product
  • Develop project timelines, milestones, and deliverables, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget
  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the engineering department
  • Prepare detailed technical documentation, including design reports, test reports, and user manuals
  • Present project status updates, technical findings, and recommendations to the Project Lead
