Electrician

• Receives day-to-day guidance and assignments from the Chief Stationary Engineer-Assistant Chief at the Alton Mental Health Center
• Performs preventive maintenance and repair of the uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system located at the facility
• Performs preventative maintenance activities on 400HZ motor generators, including lubrication and checking units for excessive vibration and noise
• Changes building ballasts and bulbs
• Installs and maintains battery systems ensuring proper function and integrity of batteries and that the battery charging systems are working correctly
• Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above

• Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of high school
• Requires proof of possession of successful completion of a recognized electrician apprenticeship program and four (4) years full-time journey level electrician experience OR eight (8) years of full-time journey level electrician experience
• Requires a high voltage electrician license at the journeyman or supervising electrician level through local municipality, work location County or the State of Illinois
• Requires ability to utilize agency supplies material/equipment (e.g., pager, cellphone, etc.)
• Requires ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently and push/pull or lifts up to 100 pounds with assistance to perform repairs and in the maintenance of facilities
• Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers
• Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check
• Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law
