The Electrician - Pit and Shop, responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems on large-scale surface mining equipment, including electric shovels, drills, and support equipment. This role is critical to ensuring safe, reliable operation of high-voltage systems in an open pit mining environment while maintaining strict compliance with MSHA regulations.

Inspect work area and plant for hazards, damage and defects
Examine drawings or specifications to determine work methods, sequence of activities or manufacture of components
Diagnose faults or breakdowns
Estimate time and materials required to complete jobs
Raise orders for materials
Undertake repairs or component changeouts as required
Clean and maintain tools and work area
Train other personnel or apprentices (if required)
Ensure activities comply with safety, environmental and statutory requirements
Other duties as assigned by the company
Requirements
High school diploma or GED
3–7 years of heavy industrial or mining electrical experience
Strong understanding of: high-voltage distribution systems
AC/DC motors and control systems
PLC troubleshooting and electrical schematics
Experience with: DC drives and/or AC VFD systems
Ground fault systems and protection relays
Proficient in use of: multimeter, megger, amp clamp, and diagnostic tools
Must have the ability to stand for up to 4 hours per shift
Must have the ability to be seated for up to 4 hours to operate equipment or vehicles
Must have the ability to work from elevated positions, walk/climb up and down stairs/steps and climb on/off equipment and ladders
Must have the ability to wear required protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other personal protective equipment as required by Company and MSHA
Must have the ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions (push, pull, twist, handle), and have rapid reflex movements of the arms/legs and good hand to eye coordination
Must have the ability to lift/raise 10 – 50 lbs. without mechanical assistance frequently during the work shift
Must have the ability to work in extreme conditions, including but not limited to changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise from low to high decibels, varying degrees of light/dark, in and around artificial light, and in a confined work area
Must have the ability to work various shifts (required shifts include days, evening and nights, with rotating schedules, weekends and holidays
