Job Description:

Electric Operations is committed to providing safe and reliable electric service to Eversource customers. The organization is comprised of the following 5 major groups., Electric Field Operations, Emergency Preparedness, Planning and Scheduling, and Substation Operations and Field Engineering and Communications. This position will be designated shift work with the possibility of Saturday as a workday and a four, ten-hour workweek may be scheduled.

Job Responsibility:

  • Responding to emergency situations to meet customers’ needs
  • Perform overtime and emergency work as required

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • It is preferred that individuals hold a valid Commercial driver’s license (CDL) and satisfactory clean driving record, but are required to have the ability to acquire and/or maintain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within 6 months of hire
  • Must be physically able to perform the “essential duties” of the Electrician position
  • Must be able to effectively interact, communicate, and direct the work of other co-workers
  • Candidates must also possess an E1 or E2 license or a MASS Journeyman Electrician License or have successfully completed the TMP (time merit progression) for electrician
  • Must be available to perform overtime and emergency work as required and live within 30 minutes of the reporting location
  • Must successfully pass the Edison Electric Institute Construction and Skilled Trades (CAST) Test
  • hold a valid Massachusetts Journeyman's Electrician license (or the equivalent) and have a valid drivers license and CDL along with Hazmat endorsement (or the ability to obtain both)
  • The ability to work in inclement weather and be willing to work outside of your assigned district are required

  • Test dielectric properties of a new barrel of transformer / starter oil is within specification
  • Test phasing and voltage on power feeders, starters, and substations using 12,000-V Hot Sticks and other methods
  • Test and troubleshoot problems on UPS system and repair or replace bad parts
  • Test and troubleshoot electrical problems using appropriate test equipment
  • Test and perform preventive maintenance on 480V and 4160V motor starters
