Job Description

Peak Nano is on the hunt for a test engineer to lead the buildout of its capacitor prototyping and testing program. The candidate would play an essential role in bringing nanolayered polymer capacitor films to market by supporting device fabrication and testing efforts designed to understand, forecast, optimize, and facilitate the transition from film to device. Key responsibilities include designing prototype fabrication schedules, automating existing film dielectric testing methods and developing new metrology to evaluate capacitor voltage and temperature handling to predict and validate device longevity and lifetime. The ideal candidate has experience in high voltage and/or high temperature measurement of electrical properties of both polymer film and film capacitors and is eager to build something new.

Job Responsibility

  • Basic thin film testing & metrology
  • Project planning and overseeing device fabrication schedules
  • Test system design for evaluation of capacitors at high voltage and/or temperature
  • Method development for capacitors to improve testing throughput including test automation where applicable
  • Post-mortem failure analysis of capacitor film and capacitor devices
  • Film and device structure imaging
  • Design of experiments to correlate fabrication process parameters to optimize prototype performance
  • Data analysis, process documentation, and reporting

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Material Science, Physics, or related field
  • Experience with electrical test equipment
  • Familiarity with test automation tools such as Labview, Teststand, etc.
  • Basic testing hardware troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • US Citizenship

Nice to have

  • Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Material Science, Physics, or related field
  • Understanding of physical measurement methods
  • Previous experience with nanolayered polymer capacitor films
  • CAD experience (Solidworks or similar)
  • Scripting experience (ex. Python)
  • Familiarity with metallized film capacitor fabrication and testing
  • Experience with optical and electron microscopies
  • Electronics design experience
  • Materials science experience related to polymers and thin films

  • Evaluate RF performance characteristics such as Total Radiated Power (TRP), Total Isotropic Sensitivity (TIS), and other over-the-air (OTA) metrics for cellular-enabled wireless devices using advanced equipment
  • Use instruments like spectrum analyzers and radio communication testers to assess conducted performance of wireless technologies, including LTE, 5G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GNSS
  • Support product field evaluations to validate RF performance under diverse real-world conditions, such as urban or rural environments
  • Investigate and debug issues such as poor sensitivity, low transmit power, or signal interference in wireless devices
  • Assist in the regulatory pre-certification and formal certification test efforts for hardware by preparing test samples, working closely with external test labs, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring successful completion of certification activities
  • Expand your knowledge of RF systems, testing methodologies, and certification standards while working closely with experienced engineers to develop your technical expertise and contribute to innovative designs
