Job Description:

The Electrical Service Technician is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems in commercial, industrial, and residential environments. This role requires excellent problem-solving skills, customer service, and a strong understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC).

Job Responsibility:

  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, components, and equipment, including wiring, lighting, panels, motors, and control systems
  • Perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections to ensure electrical systems operate safely and efficiently
  • Install new electrical systems and upgrades, including conduit runs, service panels, circuits, lighting, and equipment
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical issues in a timely and cost-effective manner
  • Communicate effectively with customers to explain issues, recommend solutions, and ensure satisfaction
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and hours logged
  • Ensure all work complies with NEC, local codes, and company safety policies
  • Use and maintain testing equipment, hand tools, and power tools safely and effectively
  • Respond to emergency service calls as needed, including after-hours or weekend availability
  • Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and project managers on larger service jobs

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • completion of an electrical apprenticeship or technical training preferred
  • Valid state journeyman or master electrician license (if required by jurisdiction)
  • 3+ years of experience in electrical service work, preferably in commercial or industrial settings
  • Strong working knowledge of the NEC and OSHA safety standards
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools, multimeters, and other diagnostic equipment
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, and work in various environments (indoors, outdoors, confined spaces)
