Seeking a highly experienced Electrical Project Engineer to execute projects in the space-based electronics domain. The Electrical Project Engineer Senior provides technical, cost, and schedule direction for a project team in the design, fabrication, test, and integration of space-based electronics subsystems for cutting-edge bus and instrument programs. In this role, you will work with Electrical Technologists and Electrical Architects in developing next-generation electronics capabilities. Position is expected to support multiple programs and cross-functional teams in a fast-paced development environment.
Job Responsibility:
Multi-task and oversee multiple small, fast-paced development programs including IRADs, CRADs, CAPEX, and other programs with lean budgets ranging from ~$100k up to ~$75M and aggressive schedules
Interface with payload or spacecraft IPT leads, system engineers, and program management to provide alternatives to requirements that drive system cost and schedule
Work with support disciplines –system assurance, quality assurance, test engineering, and production
Provide and communicate insight and understanding of both the technical and programmatic aspects of project to the customer community and project team
Lead generation of Statement of Works (SOWs) and vendor management
Create and enable new cost and schedule effective execution approaches for development that are focused on best value to our company, programs, and customers
Understand long-term objectives for BAE Systems SMS and our customers and how to help shape development work to enable future opportunities
Understand onboarding path for products and documentation produced on development programs and how to best benefit future programs
Determine most efficient means of producing prototypes, brassboards, EDUs, and STE. Support engineers in execution and documentation
Hands-on involvement in expediting every aspect of design, development, production, and test
Ensure staffing levels are met by communicating with appropriate functional management organizations. Help to find synergistic work for critical staff when necessary
Assess risk and make risk-based decisions throughout project lifecycle to ensure project objectives are met
Work with multiple teams to deliver on project cost, schedule, and technical requirements
Provide and communicate understanding of both the technical and programmatic aspects of a project to the project team
Develop electronics and harnesses to quality and reliability standards for NASA, NOAA, DoD, and classified customer
Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule
Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment
Perform other duties as necessary
Requirements:
BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 10 or more years of related experience
Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience
Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education
Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education
Experience with executing electronics programs (could be PCB design, box testing, PWA assembly, or other)
Hands-on experience with “flight space qualified” analog, digital, and/or mixed signal electronics design, fabrication, and test in radiation intense environments
Experience with Electronics/Electrical Engineering (EEE) parts for space flight applications and understanding of associated screening and qualification processes
Successful track record (cost, schedule, performance) leading and providing technical guidance to cross-functional space-based electronics teams from proposal through delivery
Experience leading Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) programs and reporting cost variance metrics
Solid working knowledge of project management tools and practices, including developing and controlling program schedules and budgets, risk & opportunity management, scope change management, resource management, and subcontract program management preferably for US government customers
Excellent interpersonal skills, written communication skills, oral presentation skills, conflict management skills, and an ability to lead group discussions
A security clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access
