Job Description:

Our Electrical Power & Cooling Engineers are at the heart of keeping BT’s networks operating 24/7 365 days a year. Utilising their expertise and knowledge in both Low and High Voltage systems, generators, emergency lighting, cooling, alarms and UPS they ensure that the BT estate continues to work no matter the circumstances.

Job Responsibility:

  • Identification & proactive reporting of HSE/Compliance/Design issues
  • Ownership of designated patch and sites
  • Sharing of best practice, supporting colleagues
  • Responsibility & ownership of critical and urgent network repair/provision/maintenance activity
  • Execution of prioritised work items
  • Risk assessment for health and safety
  • Raising of issues / risks to more senior individuals
  • Understanding of what is expected and proactively take opportunities to increase own skills
  • Raises opportunities to improve the process in work area and beyond
  • Monitoring, actioning and meeting all required compliance

Requirements:

  • Must be able to fulfil the physical requirements of the role i.e. able to bend, stretch, kneel and crouch
  • Must be able to climb, work at floor and ceiling level inside buildings, tower structures and roadside infrastructure
  • Must be able to lift heavy drums/cables
  • Must be able to recognise coloured wiring
  • Electrical competency City & Guilds 2360 parts 1+2 or equivalent NVQ or equivalent industry qualification
  • BTEC Electrical Engineering Level 3/HNC/HND/MOET Level 3/ET Level 3 or equivalent
  • Full UK manual Driving Licence

Nice to have:

  • 18th Edition Regs – or current electrical regulations
  • Inspection, Testing and Verification (C&G 2392-10)
  • Experience with Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS)
  • HVAC Refrigeration C&G/NVQ Level 3
  • F-GAS category 1
  • Demonstrable experience of repairing and maintaining Air Conditioning Split systems
  • Experience of working with DC power systems
  • Coaching/mentoring/supervisory experience
