The Electrical/Instrumentation Technician will be responsible for reducing unscheduled maintenance, increasing up-time and lowering maintenance costs by being a shared resource for the entire mill when their technical expertise or other capabilities are needed to solve a problem. Daily they will maintain large paper-making equipment, instrumentation and control systems, and program PLC’s. They may also be called upon to support a project or implement changes in existing systems, and will strive to drive safe, respectful, and positive workplace interactions.
Job Responsibility:
Learn new technology, processes and electrical equipment and educate others
Serve as a shared resource for controls, instrumentation, and inspection technologies
Lead instrumentation and controls troubleshooting efforts within their area of expertise during asset outages
Troubleshoot wiring, I/O devices, relays, AC & DC drives, as well as PLC code to support mill safety, product quality, and machine efficiency
Be a point person for driving equipment efficiencies electrically for their assets
Be involved in continuous improvement processes as needed and directed
Utilize 1:1 interaction on the job, formal meetings, and other forums to train others in mill technologies
Requirements:
High School or GED
Three plus (3+) years of experience in a manufacturing environment performing Electrical/Instrumentation troubleshooting tasks
Familiarity with hazards and procedures involving medium voltage equipment and/or sub stations
AC &DC Drives troubleshooting and setup/commissioning experience
Ability to use vendor manuals to setup new equipment when necessary
