This is a brilliant opportunity for someone to join us as an Electrical Fitter, where you will work within the Technical Services group (TSG) structure of the Portsmouth International Port (PIP) maintenance team, providing Electrical fitting, Repairs, Maintenance, Installation and Testing & Inspection skills on a range of works, Capital Projects and installations.
Job Responsibility:
Facilitate the repair, maintenance, modification and installation of new equipment for Portsmouth International Port, including the Camber Dock area
Provide mechanical diagnostic and fitting skills on a range of works including capital projects, planned and preventative maintenance, corrective, minor and major works
Operate a callout service, covering breakdowns 24 hours a day, 365 days a year
Work within the Technical Services group (TSG) structure of the Portsmouth International Port (PIP) maintenance team, providing Electrical fitting, Repairs, Maintenance, Installation and Testing & Inspection skills on a range of works, Capital Projects and installations
Requirements:
Have served a recognised electrical engineering apprenticeship
Hold a BTEC in Electrical Engineering (or similar/equivalent) qualification
Hold the 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations qualification
Hold a City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & testing certificate or equivalent or be willing to undertake training
Be conversant with the installation and maintenance of 400v and 230v systems
Have a sound knowledge of, and perform the functions specified by the Planned Maintenance System (PMS)
Carry out corrective works on non-functioning or damaged equipment as reported through the Defect Reporting System (DRS) or PMS
Carry out minor works with an emphasis on Electrical maintenance, Testing and Inspection and Electrical installation
Be capable of diagnostic analysis of electrical installations and equipment
Undertake other repairs and general maintenance on Port assets including operational structures, machinery, pumps, buildings and CCTV etc.
Be capable of working from electrical engineering drawings
Be conversant with, and capable of operating workshop related machinery and electrical test equipment
Be qualified in or attend courses for confined space, MEWP operation, slinging/ lifting and working at height
Be fully conversant with Health & Safety legislation
Undertake Risk Assessments as required
Participate in the TSG "On Call" roster team for one week in four and provide additional cover
Be confident working unsupervised and able to use own initiative
Be adaptable and flexible to meet the demands of the service
Be customer focused and demonstrate ability in communicating with people at all levels
Comply with all PIP and Portsmouth City Council policies and procedures
Hold a full clean Driving License
Be physically able to work at heights and in confined spaces as well as outdoors in all weathers
