The Electrical Fitter/Wireman is responsible for delivering skilled HV craft work within the Major Projects and Customer Networks business. The role involves executing operations, maintenance, and project activities on privately owned HV networks, ensuring compliance with HSQE policies, and maintaining high customer service standards.
Job Responsibility:
Execute planned operation and maintenance activities on HV networks, including inspections and switchgear maintenance, and out-of-hours work
Perform HV project and remedial tasks such as substation fitting (e.g., switchgear and transformer installation), earthing installation, and network alterations
Work as a competent person under the guidance of Customer Networks Engineers
Collaborate with sub-contract staff, providing support with specialized activities
Maintain company-issued tools, vehicle, equipment, and PPE, ensuring timely inspection, calibration, and testing
Complete site documentation promptly and to a high standard
Communicate professionally and accurately with customers and colleagues
Take a proactive approach to work, assisting with Major Projects and Customer Networks Business tasks, which may involve working with higher voltages or emerging technologies
Requirements:
3-5 years of practical electrical fitting experience
Experience in EHV substation construction fitting
Relevant electrical qualifications such as City & Guilds, NVQ, ONC, HNC, or equivalent
Craft training from a recognised provider for role-relevant tasks
Good IT skills and excellent written and verbal communication
