Job Description

A large electrical engineering contractor with a very broad and exciting range of projects. In addition to large solar connections, the company also works extensively with heavy industries, demand side response generation, battery energy storage and large private connections to the grid. Voltages range from 11kV to 132kV with project values extending up to £3m per scheme. It's the breadth of the schemes that really stands out and makes this a very stimulating place to work. The Role: Using your knowledge of electrical power engineering, you’ll help define the engineering work for the client, potentially suggesting improved ways of delivering the work and put together compelling estimates and tenders. Through speaking with the project delivery, business development and design departments, you’ll gather the information and knowledge necessary to put forward high-level delivery plans with accurate pricing for procured equipment (LV & MV), civil engineering (i.e substation housing and drainage) and the electrical connection including labour costs. This would really someone from an electrical design or a great project delivery background in the 11kV - 132kV space who wants to explore a more commercial role as well as current Estimating / Tendering Engineers interested in progressing to a more senior role.

Job Responsibility

  • Developing estimates and tenders for schemes of up to £3m
  • Working with design, business development and project delivery departments to ensure accurate pricing and acceptable risk profile for each scheme
  • Developing other members of the Tendering / Estimating team

Requirements

  • 10+ years experience in MV/HV design or project delivery
  • Experience with procurement / costing of substation equipment and cabling
  • Degree or vocational qualification in an electrical discipline
  • Great people person who can work within an organisation to get the information required
