Job Responsibility

  • Providing electrical engineering design services for facilities, industrial plants, as well as water and wastewater facilities
  • Work in a project team environment with other engineers and designers involved in the design, modification, and analysis of new and existing medium voltage electrical systems, electric power distribution design and standby power generation
  • Work on challenging assignments that include investigating, trouble-shooting, and solving a wide variety of electrical engineering issues
  • Prepare and review detailed calculations, including three phase power studies, short circuit, voltage drop, motor starting and protective relay settings as well as prepare documentation for design input for drawing production
  • Perform independent reviews of work performed by others including calculations and drawing preparation
  • Construction Management duties including shop drawing review, Inspections, as-built reviews and Manual reviews

Requirements

  • 3-5 Years of Electrical Design
  • Electrical Design – experience in the following: Design LV switchboards, LV switchgear, medium voltage (4.16kV, 13.2kV, 33kV) metal-clad switchgear, medium voltage (4.16kV, 13.2kV, 33kV) metal-enclosed switchgear, VFDs, MCCs
  • Preparation of one-line diagrams, Design of feeder breaker controls, Preparation of cable and conduit schedules, panelboard schedules, design of underground electrical distribution system, pad-mount transformers for radial and loop systems, pad-mount switches/switchgear, double-ended substation, protection scheme for double-ended substation, electric power distribution design and standby power generation
  • Construction management duties including shop drawing review, Inspections, as-built reviews and Manual reviews
  • PE license (or plans to get a PE)
  • A BSEE from an ABET accredited university (Electrical Engineering preferred)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage client contact and coordination of electrical projects

  • Conduct overcurrent protection device coordination studies to determine overcurrent protective device settings for selective tripping and ensure system reliability
  • Evaluate systems for selective coordination where required per NFPA 70 and recommend solutions to comply with NFPA 70
  • Perform comprehensive arc flash hazard analysis per IEEE 1584 and NFPA 70E to determine the arc flash boundaries, incident energy, and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements
  • Evaluate and recommend arc flash mitigation strategies to reduce incident energy levels
  • Create arc flash labels in accordance with NFPA 70E and client standards
  • Conduct site visits to apply arc flash labels
  • Ensure proper application of arc flash labels when installed by the contractor
  • Conduct motor-starting studies to assess the impact of starting large motors on electrical power systems
  • Utilize power system software tools such as SKM, ETAP, or EasyPower for power systems modeling and analysis
