Job Description

Mint Selection are partnered with one of the UK's leading renewables IPPs that are seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our client's Engineering team. Working alongside a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, you would be responsible for the design, development and delivery across a portfolio of BESS projects and associated Substations (up to 400kV). You'll have exposure to the full lifecycle from late-stage development through to energisation, and benefit from an autonomous working environment where you'll act as both the Client and the Principal Contractor.

Job Responsibility

  • Design Co-ordination for one or more projects: Co-ordinate the design inputs from all contractors responsible for design on site
  • Proactively identify design issues early and resolve these issues or escalate to the head of engineering
  • Lead design co-ordination meetings between all contractors responsible for design
  • Manage design register and provide regular updates to the project team
  • Manage contractors' due dates and ensuring contractors deliver their required design deliverables correctly and on time
  • Document Control for one or more projects: Manage all drawings and calculations required for the project
  • Ensure correct and latest revisions of all drawings and calculations are used by all contractors in the design, development and construction of the project
  • Communicating Design Information between Contractors and to Site Team for one or more projects: Regular site visits to review design developments with site based team and to assist project management team in any design related issues that arise during construction
  • Design Development of future projects: Support the Head of Engineering in developing designs and specifications and evaluating contractors for future battery and gas peaking plants
  • Undertaking an Owners Engineer role from an electrical point of view, providing review of electrical design work undertaken by contractors for both their own and other projects constructed by the team, in particular: Review of contractor designs and calculations

  • Grid studies – P28, G5/4, load flow analysis
  • Providing high level specification of electrical equipment (with technical input from specialist designers)

Requirements

  • Bachelor's / Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Knowledge of design and construction of power and energy projects
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ideally, working towards chartered status (IEng/CEng)
