The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.
Job Responsibility:
Perform engineering tasks in support of the Flight and Ground Systems such as Avionics, Electrical Power, Pyrotechnics, Comm and Tracking, Ground Instrumentation, Kennedy Ground Control Systems engineering group
Support preparations for assembly, test, processing, and launch of NASA's Space Launch System and Orion spacecraft as well as Ground Support Systems
Initial assignments will focus on understanding the ground application software used during ground processing and vehicle launch
Developing Work Authorization Documents to process, test and launch the SLS Rocket and Orion Spacecraft and Kennedy Ground Control Systems
Develop and apply knowledge of technical principles, vehicle processing operations concepts, ground to vehicle interfaces, and vehicle/ground system design and operation
Additional responsibilities in system training, vehicle processing, and launch certification will follow
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering or technical equivalent from an accredited institution
Must have valid U.S. driver's license
Must be able to climb stairs
Must be able to climb ladders and platforms
Must be able to wear hearing protection, eye protection and other associated personal protective equipment
Must be able to work in tight confined space areas
Must be able to work inside and outside throughout the test complex
Must be able to travel to different areas on site
Must be able to walk on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand
Must be dependable and punctual
Must be able to work occasional overtime
Proof of U.S. Citizenship or Legal Permanent Resident/Green Card holder of the United States is required
Must have clear, concise, and accurate communication skills
Must have ability to work well with office staff and customer representatives
Must be able to travel to support position requirements
Must maintain a positive work atmosphere
Must pass a federal background investigation
Must comply with all drug free workplace requirements
