Design electrical systems for solar PV, hybrid (Solar + Grid + Diesel), and battery energy storage applications
Perform advanced AC and DC system calculations including: Load flow analysis, Cable sizing and voltage drop, Protection coordination and device selection, Battery autonomy and lifecycle modelling
Support present and future grid-connected / utility-interactive system interconnection requirements
Assist in the design and application of transformers, switchgear and LV/MV distribution equipment
Support the integration of protection and control, PLC, SCADA and monitoring systems
Prepare equipment specifications, datasheets, Bills of Material (BOMs) and material take-offs
Review and coordinate vendor technical submissions and engineering documentation
Participate in technical evaluation of suppliers, technologies and design options
Contribute to proposal development, RFP technical documentation and estimating support
Support FAT, SAT and commissioning activities as required
Conduct site visits and technical assessments
Prepare design reports, calculation summaries and as-built documentation
Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with codes, standards and client expectations
Mentor junior designers and contribute to knowledge development within the team
Support continuous improvement of engineering tools, templates and workflows
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical engineering (or equivalent)
Minimum 8+ years of relevant experience in: Solar PV or hybrid power systems, Battery storage / DC systems, AC power distribution or utility-connected power systems
Demonstrated experience preparing SLDs, wiring diagrams, panel layouts and system documentation
Strong understanding of: AC & DC electrical distribution, Grounding & bonding practices, Transformers & switchgear, Protection & control principles
Experience with AutoCAD / EPLAN or equivalent
Strong written, interpersonal and technical communication skills
Ability to manage priorities across multiple projects
Proficiency in spoken and written French and English is required
Nice to have
Familiarity with CEC, CSA, IEC, IEEE standards
Experience working with utilities, EPCs or industrial clients
Professional Engineer (P.Eng) eligibility
