We are seeking an experienced and driven Electrical Designer Lead to join our client and their team. This is a standout opportunity for someone who combines deep technical knowledge of electrical building systems with a passion for leadership, mentorship, and design excellence. The position is within a leading multi-disciplinary engineering firm renowned for its innovative and collaborative approach to building solutions, providing services in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineering. ... In this role, you will take the lead on electrical design for a diverse portfolio of building projects across the residential, commercial, institutional, and industrial sectors. You'll collaborate closely with their talented electrical engineering and design team to deliver high-quality permit and construction drawing packages, ensuring every detail meets the highest standards and complies with all relevant codes.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead the entire electrical design process for a variety of building projects (e.g., residential, commercial, institutional)
  • Prepare and rigorously review electrical drawings, specifications, load calculations, and system layouts
  • Coordinate design activities closely with internal engineering disciplines (mechanical, structural, civil) and external stakeholders (architects, clients, authorities)
  • Ensure full compliance with relevant electrical and building codes and standards (e.g., OESC, OBC, CSA)
  • Manage project timelines, deliverables, and overall quality assurance for electrical components
  • Provide essential technical guidance and mentorship to junior and intermediate electrical designers
  • Participate in necessary site reviews, inspections, and construction administration activities

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
  • Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) or Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) designation (or eligibility for designation) is strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience specifically in building electrical systems design
  • High proficiency with design software, including AutoCAD and Revit, as well as electrical calculation software (e.g., AGi32)
  • Project management, leadership, and problem-solving skills
