Job Description

We’re seeking an experienced Electrical Design Team Leader to help manage and lead design contestable connections between 11kV - 132kV for a broad range of end clients and industries. You’ll benefit from the support of an excellent team, an attentive line manager and a well distributed workload. You’ll work closely with colleagues from the civil design team, the protection and control engineers and external clients / landowners and see the project through from initial design to project completion giving full exposure to all parts of the process. The position will report to the Senior Electrical Design Manager and is to be the contestable designer on specific projects. This will involve undertaking electrical designs, and leading the Electrical Design Department across some high-scale projects.

Job Responsibility

  • Supervising and supporting the Electrical Team
  • Taking the lead on electrical projects
  • Create Single Line Diagrams (SLDs)
  • Prepare technical specifications and select electrical equipment for the projects
  • Understand Earthing Designs
  • Create substation designs
  • Create cable calculations and schedules
  • Create Designer Risk Assessments
  • Create SCADA designs
  • Work with communication networks (such as Fibre Optics)

Requirements

  • Experience in a supervisory role within the design industry
  • Experience of ICPs/DNOs or have a background of ICPs/DNOs
  • Experience of voltages up to 132KV
  • Experience in substation and cable design
  • Knowledge of ENA/BS/IEC/G81 standards
