P+S Personnel are pleased to be working on behalf of our clients, who are currently recruiting an Electrical Design Engineer to join their team based in Great Yarmouth on a full-time, permanent basis. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design and development of electrical control systems, control panels, and associated schematics for a variety of industrial applications. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong AutoCAD and Microsoft software skills, a solid understanding of electrical design principles, and the ability to work both independently and within a team.
Job Responsibility:
Design and layout of electrical control panels, including associated steelwork
Creation of electrical schematics, single line diagrams, and site layout drawings using AutoCAD
Perform cable calculations and ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations
Select components and materials appropriate for project requirements
Design and document PLC logic and control systems
Collaborate with the team to conduct functional testing of systems prior to deployment
Lead and/or assist with Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) in the presence of clients as required
Ensure that health and safety assessments are carried out and adhered to
Maintain adherence to quality control processes and project specifications
Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders
Work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment
Requirements:
Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, etc.)
Strong background in electrical control system design
Experience in cable sizing, component selection, and schematic development
Knowledge of PLC systems (design and logic development)
Understanding of health & safety regulations and ability to perform risk assessments
Good communication skills – verbal and written
Ability to manage own workload and adapt to changing project requirements
Familiarity with quality assurance and documentation procedures
Full UK driving licence
Must live locally to Great Yarmouth or be willing to relocate
Must have a clean criminal record
Nice to have:
Previous experience in industrial automation or marine/offshore control systems
Hands-on experience with commissioning and troubleshooting
