Job Description

The Electrical Design Engineer II develops and validates automotive electronic hardware from concept through production as a core project team member. This role owns well-defined subsystems in DC-DC, communications, and/or LV powertrain controller electronics, ensuring compliance with requirements and contributing to robust, manufacturable product releases.

Job Responsibility

  • Own design and analysis for assigned circuits/subsystems (power, analog, digital, communications), including simulation-supported trade-offs
  • Develop and execute DV-level verification plans for owned scope
  • debug failures and drive corrective actions
  • Design and review communication interfaces and robustness features (CAN/CAN-FD, LIN, SPI, I2C), including network protection and diagnostics
  • Support PCB layout reviews (EMC/robustness/DFM) and contribute to DFMEA and design reviews
  • ISO 26262 compliance
  • Participate in requirements traceability and evidence creation consistent with ASPICE expectations for engineering work products
  • Support manufacturing readiness and pilot builds with structured issue resolution and documentation
  • Clear, concise, and assertive communication (written and verbal), including the ability to document engineering decisions and test evidence
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration across Systems, Software, Mechanical/Thermal, Test, Manufacturing, Quality, and Suppliers
  • Professional customer-facing communication skills
  • able to explain technical topics and negotiate requirements/constraints respectfully

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical/Electronics Engineering (MS is a plus)
  • Typically 2–5+ years of relevant experience in automotive electronics hardware design/validation
  • Proficiency with Mentor Xpedition
  • Working familiarity with ASPICE principles and disciplined engineering documentation/traceability
  • Knowledge of WCCA, DFMEA, & ISO-26262

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with simulation tools (e.g., LTspice/MathCad)
  • Hands-on experience with CAN/LIN validation and troubleshooting
