Join a leading OFGEM-licensed IDNO specialising in the design, ownership, operation, and maintenance of a broad range of electricity distribution network assets from 11kV - 132kV battery energy storage sites. The company is also transitioning into grid scale asset adoption which gives you access to a hugely varied and interesting set of projects to be involved with. The Network Design Engineer plays a crucial role in assessing and developing the technical design requirements for new projects. Collaborating closely with developers and Independent Connection Providers (ICPs), this position ensures the seamless integration of design requirements from project inception to adoption. With a focus on LV, HV, and ideally EHV network design, this role requires effective liaison with both internal and external stakeholders to guarantee design approval and compliance with company and industry standards.
Job Responsibility:
Review and approve new electricity network connection designs from Developers and ICPs
Innovate and develop electricity network connection designs, ensuring compliance with NERS and company standards
Guarantee that all networks for adoption align with company design standards and relevant legislation
Contribute to the stage and gate process, supporting the Head of Engineering and Policy in ensuring a smooth customer journey and project delivery
Maintain robust communication with DNO planning and design teams
Oversee and approve as-built processes and manage any design changes during the asset energisation stage
Ensure that appropriate land rights are secured for adoptable assets
Keep abreast of all relevant legislation affecting design, adoption, ownership, and operation of electricity networks
Requirements:
Minimum 2 years of experience in electrical distribution engineering
Degree, HNC/D, or equivalent qualifications in engineering
Proficiency in high and low voltage network design
Strong understanding of regulatory and legislative compliance, including health, safety, and environment
Nice to have:
Experience in Extra High Voltage (EHV) network design is desirable
