WHY: The Global Manufacturing Electrical Bill of Operations (BoO) Process & Standards SME is critical for improving the overall quality of GM products. This role helps reduce warranty and improves E-FTQ at all Global GM vehicle manufacturing facilities by preventing defects through the entire electrical architecture of vehicle. This role supports plants by assisting them in their journey to achieving E-FTQ goal by implementation of Electrical BoO Process & Standards. The Electrical BoO outlines processes that have been proven to reduce warranty and aid in the proper assembly practices to protect our customers. WHAT: As an Electrical Bill of Operations Process & Standards SME, you will be tasked with improving, implementing, and coaching vehicle assembly plants in executing the electrical BoO to "Inspire customer confidence in every GM product, starting with the very first vehicle." HOW: This position influences vehicle assembly operations by helping establish standards and processes, encouraging suppliers to enhance product quality, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve testing protocols for customer protection. The role supports EFTQ and warranty metrics by providing onsite assistance at Global plants as required.
Job Responsibility
Update, maintain, and communicate electrical BoO standards to ensure clarity and proper execution
Establish relationships with the vehicle assembly plants to facilitate engagement and implementation of the electrical BoO
Develop strategies and action plans to achieve EFTQ targets and ensure full BoO compliance at all vehicle assembly plants
Foster a forward-thinking work culture that embraces change and navigates future organizational and industry challenges
Build and nurture strategic relationships across various functions including software, manufacturing, and program management to synergize efforts towards future innovations
Requirements
2+ years of experience in electrical manufacturing, product engineering, or quality within a high-volume production environment (automotive strongly preferred)
Hands-on exposure to vehicle electrical systems or architectures, such as harnessing, modules, connectivity, or end-of-line validation/testing
Experience identifying and resolving production or quality issues, including root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions (e.g., containment, error-proofing, process improvements)
Working knowledge of manufacturing quality systems and tools, such as:PFMEA / Control Plans, Standardized work, Layered process audits, or similar structured quality frameworks
Demonstrated ability to analyze ambiguous problems and translate into actionable solutions, particularly in fast-paced or changing production environments
Experience collaborating across functions (e.g., manufacturing, product engineering, suppliers, quality) to drive alignment and achieve shared outcomes
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence without authority and drive adoption of standards across teams or plants
Willingness and ability to travel (up to 50%) and support on-site plant execution, including hands-on problem solving
