Our client, a custom electric motor manufacturer and repair shop serving industrial markets across the globe is searching for a Sales Manager in Houston, TX. This person will lead customer acquisition and retention efforts, manage and grow key accounts, and develop a results-driven sales team aligned with company values. In this role, you’ll be responsible for driving sales growth across both existing and emerging markets, including the expansion of new product lines and services. This position requires a leader who can blend tactical hustle with strategic foresight, inspire high performance in others, and play a key role in helping both companies expand market share, increase customer satisfaction, and build long-term growth. The Sales Manager will directly oversee inside sales, project management, and outside sales staff, providing coaching, accountability, and direction to ensure team alignment and execution across all customer-facing activities.

Job Responsibility:

  • Set sales objectives and drive performance to meet revenue, margin, and growth targets
  • Coordinate sales efforts with sales leadership to align go-to-market strategies, maximize joint opportunities, and support the success of expanding Houston operations
  • Lead efforts to penetrate new markets and accounts by developing strategies expanding product lines, capabilities, and value-added services
  • Develop and execute strategic account plans and business development goals
  • Work cross-functionally with operations, engineering, and leadership to ensure customer expectations are met or exceeded
  • Ability to improve lead generation and customer communication
  • Maintain a steady pipeline of qualified opportunities
  • Lead, coach, and mentor the sales team, focusing on individual development, accountability, and results
  • Hire and train high-performing team members who align with values and technical complexity
  • Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and ongoing coaching to grow leadership bench strength
  • Foster a culture of extreme ownership, curiosity, urgency, and integrity
  • Serve as a primary contact for strategic customers and high-value quotes
  • Negotiate pricing and contracts in coordination with finance and leadership
  • Resolve escalated customer concerns quickly and thoroughly
  • Champion customer needs internally to drive customer service excellence and satisfaction
  • Ensure consistent use of CRM and quoting tools for visibility and follow-up
  • Track and report KPIs including quoting volume, close rates, sales funnel health, and customer retention
  • Collaborate with IT to improve sales enablement tools and technology
  • Reliable execution of the sales process, CRM data integrity, and timely reporting

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in industrial sales, preferably electric motors, motor repair, or related heavy equipment
  • Proven leadership and team development skills
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
  • Experience with Visual Manufacturing or similar ERP is a plus
  • Provide consistent quote follow-up & hold the sales team accountable to do the same
  • Ability to develop strong customer trust, increasing repeat business, and cross-sell opportunities
  • Alignment between sales and operations that enhances delivery and execution
