Job Responsibility

Provide assistance with patient care in the cardiac catheterization lab (CCL) through the provision of technical assistance to the cardiac catheterization team
Provides direct, safe, competent and quality patient care in the Interventional Cardiology department
Assists in the performance of various invasive cardiac or peripheral vascular diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
Sustains a high level of patient care by communication with the patients, families, and physicians and co-works to address the physical, general and psychosocial needs of the patient
Functions under the direction and immediate supervision of the cardiologist/radiologist performing the procedure
Assists cardiologist during procedures by operating ancillary equipment, anticipating and obtaining catheters, wires and other necessary inventory and medications as ordered
Assure compliance with federal, state, and local technical and professional regulations and accepted practiced guidelines
Delivers quality, cost-effective patient care in a professional manner
Works effectively to maintain an environment of excellence, which is patient-focused, providing timely, compassionate, quality patient care
Promotes and maintains a safe work environment for both staff and customers, incorporating national patient safety initiatives

Job Responsibility

Provides all cardio diagnostic services as ordered by physician in compliance with department's policies and procedures
Independently performs computer-assisted electrocardiograms according to specification in procedure manual
calls for support when required
processes EKG test results using computer system and edits EKG reports
assists with scanning of Holter monitor recordings and processing of results, which includes typing, sending, filing and scheduling
assists with evaluations of transtelephonic strips and processing of results
schedules and performs treadmill tests, processes test results and reports results to cardiologist

Job Responsibility

Continuously monitor and interpret EKGs of patients on telemetry
Admit and discharge patients from central monitoring
Interpret and alert team members of EKG rhythms
Notify appropriate staff for lead wires off, electrode and battery changes, and proper lead placement to ensure optimal QRS configuration on the telemetry monitor
Maintenance of appropriate communication logs
Report all changes in patient’s rhythm to appropriate staff
Consult emergency department nurse for complex arrhythmia analysis and interpretations and questions
Provide documentation for the medical record of the patient’s baseline and rhythm and with any changes in heart rhythm
Document EKG strips from the monitors as appropriate during routine and emergency interventions
Promotes patient safety by reporting of issues through established channels and participating as requested in safety initiatives

Checks and maintains functioning of Holter recorders and scanners to ensure availability of equipment
Schedules patients for instruction on the use of arrhythmia monitors
Provides patients with adequate instructions on the use of arrhythmia monitors to ensure optimal results
Processes and documents transtelephonic transmissions
