As an EKG Tech, you will perform diagnostic electrocardiograms (EKGs) to assess cardiac function. Every day you will prepare patients, explain procedures, and accurately operate EKG machines to record heart activity, ensuring comfort and high-quality readings. To be successful, you will demonstrate strong technical proficiency, meticulous data collection, and excellent patient communication, contributing to accurate cardiac diagnostics.
Job Responsibility
Perform diagnostic electrocardiograms (EKGs) to assess cardiac function
Prepare patients, explain procedures, and accurately operate EKG machines to record heart activity
Demonstrate strong technical proficiency, meticulous data collection, and excellent patient communication
Perform standard and complex electroencephalographic recordings
Apply suitable electrodes on predetermined measured positions and check their performance
Calibrate and adjust the EEG apparatus
Select predetermined electrode combinations as well as special combinations made necessary by the case under study
Take standard recordings
Recognize artifacts and take appropriate steps to eliminate them
Describe normal and abnormal clinical manifestations observed during the tests
Use activating procedures such as hyperventilation, photic stimulation and sleep
Obtain the patient's cooperation for the best performance of these procedures
Monitor on the same apparatus other variables such as electromyogram, electrocardiograms, electro-oculograms, respiration, etc., when indicated
