Ekg Tech

• Perform diagnostic electrocardiograms (EKGs) to assess cardiac function
• Prepare patients, explain procedures, and accurately operate EKG machines to record heart activity
• Demonstrate strong technical proficiency, meticulous data collection, and excellent patient communication
• Perform standard and complex electroencephalographic recordings
• Apply suitable electrodes on predetermined measured positions and check their performance
• Calibrate and adjust the EEG apparatus
• Select predetermined electrode combinations as well as special combinations made necessary by the case under study
• Take standard recordings
• Recognize artifacts and take appropriate steps to eliminate them
• Describe normal and abnormal clinical manifestations observed during the tests
• Use activating procedures such as hyperventilation, photic stimulation and sleep
• Obtain the patient's cooperation for the best performance of these procedures
• Monitor on the same apparatus other variables such as electromyogram, electrocardiograms, electro-oculograms, respiration, etc., when indicated
• Abstract relevant information from the patient's clinical record and additional information by questioning
• Perform difficult and/or unusual recording procedures
• Identify appropriate age specific interventions and incorporate into daily practice
• Assist physician with electromyography
• Place the patient on the examination table and explain procedure
• Keep equipment in a clean operating condition
• Troubleshoot and repair minor malfunctions in the equipment
• Initiate repair of malfunctioning equipment
• Practice strict ethical enforcement of protected medical and employee confidentiality
• Use confidential information only as needed to perform legitimate duties
• Transport patients, maintaining safety and comfort
• Authorized to make entries in the medical record, consistent with and limited to the scope of the job duties and any applicable licensure

• One to two years clinical experience in EEG/EMG lab or medical assisting experience
• Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire
