Requirements

Minimum one (1) year of experience (of at least 1,060 hours) as an EKG Technician
Recent graduate (within the last year) of a certified EKG technician program with externship (of at least 160 hours) to include Holter monitoring, event monitoring and stress training
High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required
Basic Life Support
Excellent interpersonal communication skills
Must pass medical terminology test
Must pass basic computer literacy test with a passing of 80% score
Must be willing to work in a Labor Management Partnership environment

Job Responsibility

Greets patients in a pleasant and professional manner
Prepares and explains procedures to patient
Operates EKG equipment by applying lead placements to patients
Prepares EKG tracing for interpretation indicating the required demographic information
Responds to emergency situations as necessary
Assists and prepares patients for the cardiology procedures which may include but is not limited to Holter Event monitors, Holter scanning, Cardiac exercise stress testing
Maintains equipment in operating order and notifies supervisor of needed repairs
Prepares paperwork and EKGs for physician interpretation of inpatients and outpatients
Maintains files, makes copies of cardiac procedures and assists with any other paperwork as required
Maintains a safe and orderly work area
