About the Opportunity We have an exciting opportunity for a EHS Advisor to join Amentum; the successful candidate will become part of a respected and ambitious team working in the Nuclear New Build Sector at Hinkley Point C. The successful candidate will gain the privilege of joining a multidisciplinary team on an ever-changing site for one of Amentum’s most exciting delivery partners. At Amentum, we provide construction solutions for the most innovative and high-tech clients the UK has to offer. We are seeking a EHS Advisor who has strong experience in Fire Safety & Risk Management i.e., Fire Risk Assessments, Fire Plans & Hot Works Permits and Safe Systems of Work Control i.e., Setting to Work, Permit Issuing, Facilitating RAMS Production and Work-Pack Coordination etc. The EHS Advisor will work directly with the Amentum project team, our wider supply-chain and our client supporting the governance of the Health and Safety. This role involves promoting and enhancing the already established EHS culture, providing value through innovation and industry best practice, whilst providing oversight for the safe delivery of EHS excellence. The successful candidate will be required to work in line with the Amentum Construction team's working rotation. This consists of 10 days on site and a four day weekend, starting on a Tuesday and finishing the following Thursday. The candidate will receive overtime and weekend pay rates in line with the site ESCA agreement. 

Job Responsibility

  • Ensuring delivery meets the company and client requirements by determining safe methods of working, identifying hazards and unsafe conditions, and advise on written method statements, assist in producing risk assessments, and the preparation and review of safety documentation
  • Carrying out site safety inspections, undertaking targeted audits and promoting a strong safety culture to the workforce to improve behavioural safety
  • Development and implementation of forward initiatives and training to Learn from Experience, provide coaching and enable continuous improvement
  • Ensure management and workforce are aware of site conditions & requirements, HS&E legislation, environmental consents, impact assessments, codes of practice changes and any other changes which may occur
  • Engagement with all levels within the organization
  • Provide competent conventional safety advice including fire safety arrangements and SSoW control
  • Injury/incident reporting and investigation

Requirements

  • NEBOSH General and/or Construction certificate
  • NEBOSH Fire Certificate or Equivalent
  • NVQ Level 5 in Occupational Health & Safety or Equivalent i.e., Diploma in Fire Safety & Risk Management
  • Significant site and construction experience
  • Experience in incident investigation and reporting
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good interpersonal skills and a willingness to work with people at all levels of an organisation
  • Strong IT skills
  • Good knowledge of CDM
  • Technical member of IOSH (minimum)
