Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced EHR Communications Consultant to support a major electronic health record (EHR) implementation. This role is ideal for a communications professional with direct experience leading change management communications during healthcare technology transitions. The consultant will own communications strategy and execution for two key audiences: one internal, and one external. Success in this role requires the ability to translate complex workflow and system changes into clear, actionable messaging that supports adoption, minimizes confusion, and maintains trust throughout go-live.

Job Responsibility:

  • Develop and lead a communications plan aligned to all phases of EHR go-live, including pre-implementation, activation, and stabilization
  • Create targeted internal communications for clinicians, operations teams, and shared services groups
  • Manage a communications calendar across channels such as email, intranet, newsletters, and live meetings
  • Partner with clinical, operational, and technology leaders to ensure communications are accurate and aligned
  • Develop FAQs, leadership talking points, toolkits, and resistance-management messaging
  • Create patient-facing communications related to scheduling, portal access, medical records, billing, and continuity of care
  • Write content for patient and internal audiences across portals, websites, newsletters, on-hold messaging, and other channels
  • Coordinate messaging across operations, marketing, customer care, legal, compliance, and executive stakeholders
  • Track communication effectiveness and provide updates on progress, risks, and stakeholder sentiment
  • Support post-go-live communications planning and transition

Requirements:

  • 6–10 years of healthcare communications experience
  • Experience supporting at least 2 full-cycle EHR implementations, such as Epic, Oracle Health/Cerner, MEDITECH, athenahealth, or similar platforms
  • Proven experience creating both internal change management communications and patient-facing communications during EHR transitions
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical and workflow changes for varied audiences
  • Experience managing multi-channel communications campaigns in healthcare environments
  • Strong project management and stakeholder collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Writing samples or portfolio may be requested
