Job Description:

Improving outcomes for children and young people with SEND in Gloucestershire. The EHCP service plays a vital role in supporting children and young people who require additional help to achieve their potential. This is a leadership opportunity within the EHCP service.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead and inspire a team of dedicated officers, ensuring statutory responsibilities are met and outcomes for children and young people are improved
  • Oversee a team managing mediation and SENDIST Tribunal appeals, ensuring fair and timely resolution of disputes
  • Lead a team responsible for maintaining accurate EHCPs following annual reviews, supporting phase transfers, and preparing young people for adulthood
  • Work collaboratively with education providers and build strong partnerships across education, health, and social care
  • Engage directly with children, young people and their families to ensure access to inclusive, high-quality education

Requirements:

  • Leadership and Communication Skills: Ability to lead teams effectively and work co-productively with professionals, families, and young people
  • Expert Knowledge of SEND Legislation: A thorough understanding of the Children and Families Act 2014, SEND Code of Practice and the practical application
  • Empathy and Problem-Solving: Sensitivity to the challenges faced by children and families, combined with the ability to develop creative solutions
  • Experience in EHCP Assessment and Review: Highly competent in assessing and reviewing the needs of vulnerable children and young people
