Improving outcomes for children and young people with SEND in Gloucestershire. The EHCP service plays a vital role in supporting children and young people who require additional help to achieve their potential. This is a leadership opportunity within the EHCP service.
Job Responsibility:
Lead and inspire a team of dedicated officers, ensuring statutory responsibilities are met and outcomes for children and young people are improved
Oversee a team managing mediation and SENDIST Tribunal appeals, ensuring fair and timely resolution of disputes
Lead a team responsible for maintaining accurate EHCPs following annual reviews, supporting phase transfers, and preparing young people for adulthood
Work collaboratively with education providers and build strong partnerships across education, health, and social care
Engage directly with children, young people and their families to ensure access to inclusive, high-quality education
Requirements:
Leadership and Communication Skills: Ability to lead teams effectively and work co-productively with professionals, families, and young people
Expert Knowledge of SEND Legislation: A thorough understanding of the Children and Families Act 2014, SEND Code of Practice and the practical application
Empathy and Problem-Solving: Sensitivity to the challenges faced by children and families, combined with the ability to develop creative solutions
Experience in EHCP Assessment and Review: Highly competent in assessing and reviewing the needs of vulnerable children and young people
