We are seeking an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist who will ensure the safety and health of all employees and visitors. The successful candidate will develop and implement safety plans, conduct safety training, investigate accidents and hazards, and recommend corrective actions to eliminate or reduce potential risks.
Job Responsibility:
Develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines
Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety
Evaluate practices, procedures, and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law
Create and conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention
Monitor compliance with SMS, policies and laws by inspecting employees and operations
Inspect equipment and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditions
Investigate accidents or incidents to discover causes and manage worker’s compensation claims
Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures
Report on health and safety awareness, issues, and statistics
Manage industrial hygiene monitoring program and testing
Will create JSAs and conduct ergonomic assessments
Partner closely with leadership and HR
Lead safety leadership team and provide direction and support for all other safety teams
Will provide safety support and training for commercial drivers
Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste for SQG
Manage SPCC, SWPP and other compliance programs and sustainability initiatives
Complete Tier II, SARA and other environmental reports
Organize and host annual safety week events
Requirements:
BS/BA in safety or environmental management, engineering or relevant field is preferred
Minimum of 5 years of experience working as a EH&S Specialist in manufacturing
RCRA & DOT Hazmat Certification
Certifications such as OSHA 10, 30, OSHA 501, CSP, RCRA and DOT Hazmat and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) are preferred
Proven experience as safety leader
In depth knowledge of OSHA/EPA/DOT and procedures
Experience in designing and delivering safety training programs and sessions
Experience with industrial hygiene monitoring programs
Experience in writing reports and policies for EHS
Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics
Proficient in MS Office
Working knowledge of safety management information systems
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
OSHA VPP experience preferred but not required
Up to 10% travel
