Active certification by American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists strongly preferred
Two years of work experience in Neurology preferred
Requires exceptional interpersonal and communication skills

Graduate from an accredited EEG technician program strongly preferred

Job Responsibility

Performs standard and complex EEGs by measuring the patient’s head, utilizing the International 10-20 Placement System, and applies electrodes to appropriate positions
Measures electrode impedance, calibrates and adjusts EEG machine
Obtains recordings, using activating procedures such as hyperventilation, photic stimulation, and sleep
Adapts methods and instrumentation to obtain optimal results based on history, clinical observations and EEG findings
Maintains equipment, and inventory of supplies
Reorders as necessary
Detects instrument malfunction, makes minor maintenance adjustments, or reports need for major repairs to Clinical Engineering
Records routine clinical computer-averaged electrical responses to visual, auditory, somatosensory, or other stimuli with evoked response equipment
Recognizes any EP signal change due to electrical artifact, anesthetic effects, temperature, position or perfusion and determines the significant influences of any surgical events on the signal
Implements alternative methods or adjusts acquisition parameters to obtain optimal recordings

Job Responsibility

Perform diagnostic Electroencephalography, seizure monitoring, and evoked potential recordings of the brain or central nervous system per physician orders and established protocols.
Prepare patients, ensure a safe testing environment, execute studies, observe and document results, and monitor equipment, all under direct healthcare provider supervision.
Possess thorough knowledge of EEG equipment, continuously update your skills, and actively participate in quality assurance programs to uphold diagnostic accuracy and patient safety.
Asesses patient prior to performing procedure.
Ensures there is a written order prior to performing the procedure.
Obtains pertinent clinical information prior to the exam and reviews comparision and complimentary procedure or reports when available.
Provides pre and post procedural education and/or information to patients undergoing EEGs.
Assists physicians in performing Neurodiagnostic studies.
Calibrates all EEG and any support equipment for the exam.
