Job Description:

This Coordinator, Education Support and SSG is responsible for coordination of Education Support Workers (Teacher’s Aides) to oversee and enhance education programs and initiatives and organise resources that will assist a young person’s engagement in learning support, and in particular the 7-10 Victorian Curriculum and the VCE Vocational Major with a focus on literacy and numeracy development. This position reports to the Program Director, Teaching and Learning, and works collaboratively with others in coordinating learning support for young people both in academic pursuits and extension activities. Small group and targeted interventions will be a regular and routine aspect of the role.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary Qualification and/or equivalent experience
  • Qualifications in teaching, youth work or social work
  • Victorian Institute of Teaching Registration
  • Completion of the MacqLit/MiniLit Literacy Program highly regarded, or willingness to undertaken training to become a MacqLit/MiniLit specialist
  • Demonstrated leadership ability to achieve results, and effectively manage staff to continually improve teaching and learning support
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Disability Standards for Education.
  • Demonstrated understanding of learning support strategies for young people diagnosed with a disability.
  • Previous experience and/or qualifications relevant to supporting and/or leading an organisations commitment to being a child safe organisation.
  • Demonstrated willingness to reflect on and develop own practice, as well as contributing to ongoing school development.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and build quality working relationships.
  • Strong Interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to successfully communicate with a range of people
  • Experience in supporting young people with disability and/or neurodivergence
  • The ability to inspire and engage young people with learning activities
  • Be willing to support young people and our team members to reach their potential
