We are currently supporting specialist school's dedicated to supporting children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). We are seeking compassionate and skilled Education Healthcare Assistant's to join our team and support the health, care, and educational needs of students. As an Education Healthcare Assistant, you will play a vital role in assisting children with complex medical and physical needs, enabling them to access education safely and comfortably. You will work closely with teaching staff, healthcare professionals, and families to deliver tailored care and promote independence.
Job Responsibility:
Provide day-to-day healthcare support for pupils with SEN, including administration of medication, personal care, and assistance with mobility
Support pupils with feeding, toileting, and other intimate care tasks with dignity and respect
Assist in implementing educational healthcare and education plans (EHCP)
Monitor pupils’ health conditions and report changes or concerns promptly
Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and medical staff to support pupils’ learning and wellbeing
Maintain accurate records of care and comply with safeguarding and health and safety policies
Attend training sessions to stay updated on health care procedures and SEN best practices
Requirements:
Experience supporting children with special educational needs, disabilities, or complex medical conditions preferred
Knowledge of common SEN health issues such as epilepsy, respiratory conditions, feeding tubes etc preferred
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally
Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport with pupils, parents, and staff
Patience, empathy, and a positive approach to working with children with complex needs
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Relevant qualifications or willingness to undertake training (e.g., First Aid, Moving & Handling, Safeguarding)
Fully enhanced DBS or willing to obtain one
