ECT of History (Early Career Teacher) Location: Purfleet-on-Thames, Essex / Thurrock borders Salary: £30,000 - £45,000 per annum (dependent on experience) + £1,500 Allowance Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent Start Date: September 2026 (or sooner) Bring History to Life. We are seeking an exceptional Early Career Teacher (ECT) of History to join our high-performing, passionate Humanities department. Job Responsibility

  • Deliver high-quality, engaging, and rigorous History lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (with opportunities for Key Stage 5 for the right candidate)
  • Foster a love of historical inquiry, critical thinking, and debate among students of all abilities
  • Use data-driven insights to track student progress and implement effective interventions
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school through extra-curricular clubs, trips, and humanities events

Requirements

  • A dedicated professional holding (or currently working toward) Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • A strong degree in History or a closely related discipline

  • Demonstrated ability to assess inspection limitations arising from geometry, restricted access, material condition, weld profile, coating, cladding, or in-service constraints, and recommend technically suitable inspection approaches
  • Extensive experience with reviewing/interpretation of PAUT/TOFD, RT Film and witnessing of MT and PT methods
  • Experience in tube inspection (ECT, IRIS, ACFM), corrosion mapping and inspection of TKY weld joints

  • Technically evaluate and validate indication detection, characterization, and sizing results generated through advanced NDT methods and assess compliance against the applicable acceptance criteria and support other NDT techniques
  • Provides inspection related recommendations on applicable projects activities
  • Close working relationship with assigned inspection personnel
  • Coordination with multiple stakeholders while maintaining inspection integrity and independence
