Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers while producing minimal noise.
Job Responsibility:
Lead ECS Design: Design and optimize environmental control systems for eVTOL aircraft, ensuring top-tier thermal and mechanical performance
System Integration: Collaborate with mechanical, aerospace, electrical, and software teams to ensure seamless integration and aircraft-level optimization
Drive Requirements & Certification: Develop system requirements, create verification procedures, and support certification documentation to meet aviation standards
Coordinate Stakeholders: Manage ECS-related development, integration, and verification activities between internal teams and external suppliers
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
8–10 years of professional experience in mechanical or aerospace engineering, ideally with expertise in environmental control systems or thermal management for aviation
Strong knowledge of mechanical and thermal systems design and system integration principles
Analytical mindset with a proven ability to address complex challenges and deliver practical solutions in a fast-paced environment
Exceptional ability to work across disciplines, driving integration and alignment with project goals
Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills to document work and present to diverse stakeholders
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., NX) and familiarity with engineering tools for simulation and analysis
Nice to have:
Experience with aerospace environmental control systems, avionics cooling, or thermal management for aircraft components
Familiarity with aviation standards (e.g., DO-160, ARP-4754/4761, 14 CFR Part 23/25) or certification processes
Exposure to AI-driven engineering applications, such as generative design or predictive maintenance for thermal systems
Experience with tools like Polarion or DOORS for requirements management
Familiarity with Agile development practices in engineering projects
