Job Description:

The internship in the Statistics Division, Santiago, will last 2 months, depending on the needs of the Office. Candidates may be selected throughout the posting period, on an “as-needed” basis. Under the supervision or overall guidance of the Director of the Division, the intern will work on research on the relevance of official statistics for democracy.

Job Responsibility:

  • Assisting in data collection, validation, and cleaning processes
  • Supporting the team in the preparation of external sector reports, including balance of payments and trade statistics, national accounts
  • Contributing to the maintenance and organization of statistical databases
  • Collaborating with team members on special projects or ad-hoc tasks related to economic statistics

Requirements:

  • Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent)
  • (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher)
  • A field of study that is closely related to the type of internship is required
  • Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or Ph.D. Programme
  • Preferably currently studying or having completed a degree in Commercial Engineering
  • Fluency in spoken and written Spanish is required

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage
  • Fluency in spoken and written English is optional
