Baptist Health is seeking to add an ECMO Primer to our Wolfson Children's Hospital. This is a full-time, day shift opportunity. At Baptist Health, an ECMO Specialist is responsible for providing advanced life support to critically ill patients requiring extracorporeal assistance. This role involves assembling, wet priming, and blood priming the ECMO circuit, administering medications per policy, assisting physicians during procedures, and managing the setup, monitoring, and troubleshooting of ECMO and related support technologies. The ECMO Specialist collaborates closely with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, effective, and high-quality patient care.
Job Responsibility:
Providing direct care to critically ill neonatal, pediatric, and adult patients
Administering medications according to hospital policies and procedures
Assisting physicians with patient management, invasive procedures, and emergency interventions
Assembling, wet priming, and blood priming ECMO circuits per policy
Setting up, managing, monitoring, and troubleshooting ECMO systems and related technology
Demonstrating professionalism when interacting with patients, families, physicians, and other departments
Assisting with patient transport throughout the hospital
Performing IV insertions as credentialed
Responding to rapid responses and Code Blue events
Maintaining flexibility and reliability due to the emergent and unpredictable nature of ECMO activation and patient volume
Requirements:
Associate's Degree
3-5 Years Critical Care Experience
Basic Life Support (BLS) Required
Licensed Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Required Or Licensed Registered Nurse Required
Nice to have:
Bachelor's Degree
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
STABLE Certification (Neonatal Education Program)
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification
