As an EC&I Apprentice at FCC Environment, you will be trained to a high level in all aspects of maintaining an Energy from Waste plant safely, responsibly and efficiently. This role has been designed to develop the next generation of skilled EC&I technicians, supporting the long-term success of our operational business. This vacancy is for a full-time position, working Monday to Friday, and follows a structured four year apprenticeship programme combining academic study with practical workplace experience.
Job Responsibility:
Complete a structured four year EC&I apprenticeship, combining off-the-job training with practical, on-site experience at our Gloucester Energy from Waste facility
Site induction, safety training and orientation
Development of core engineering, electrical and SHEQ skills
Transition into the workplace, applying skills learned
Working alongside experienced technicians, maintaining plant and equipment
Developing fault-finding skills using a logical and methodical approach
Writing risk assessments and safe systems of work
Gaining familiarity with site systems, processes and CMMS
Increased responsibility within the maintenance team
Practical maintenance of process plant and associated EC&I equipment
Completion of NVQ requirements
Further development of inspection, fault-finding and first-line maintenance skills
Completion of a Level 4 HNC in an Electrical, Electronic or Automation discipline
Working towards full EC&I Technician competency
Continued practical maintenance, inspections and fault diagnosis
Building the skills and experience required for a long-term career within FCC Environment
Requirements:
GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades A*-C in Maths and English
A strong interest in electrical, electronic or automation engineering
A practical approach with a logical mindset
Good communication skills, both written and verbal
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
Willingness to learn and work flexibly across different work areas
Basic IT skills, including MS Word, Excel and email
A respectful, hardworking attitude with a strong work ethic
