Job Description

An inclusive and high-achieving primary school in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets is seeking a passionate and experienced Early Years Teaching Assistant (Reception Focus) to join their team for ASAP start. This is a long-term, term-time-only role, with a strong focus on Reception, while also supporting across Nursery when required.

Job Responsibility

  • Support teaching and learning across Reception (primary focus) and Nursery (ages 2-5)
  • Deliver and support phonics sessions and early reading development
  • Assist with spelling, reading, and early writing activities
  • Encourage play-based learning in line with the EYFS framework
  • Help create a nurturing, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Support children’s social, emotional, and academic development

Requirements

  • Have solid Early Years experience across Nursery and/or Reception
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of the EYFS Framework
  • Have knowledge or experience of phonics and early literacy development
  • Be proactive, engaging, and enthusiastic, with a genuine passion for Early Years education
  • Show a warm, caring, and patient approach to supporting young children
  • Communicate effectively with staff, pupils, and parents

  • Contribute to pupil "learning journeys" by observing and recording progress, sharing key insights with the class teacher and parents
  • Help children build confidence, develop social skills, and learn to interact positively with their peers
  • Ensure the welfare of all pupils, assisting with personal care, snack times, and ensuring a high standard of hygiene and safety throughout the day
