Job Description:

To work under the instruction/guidance of senior/teaching staff to support the delivery of quality learning to encourage the participation of pupils in the social processes of the nursery. To undertake work/care/support programmes to enable access to learning for pupils within the 9 month - 2 year old room.

Job Responsibility:

  • Support for Pupils, Teachers and the Curriculum
  • Work in partnership with teachers/managers and other professional agencies
  • Work within school policies and procedures
  • Support pupils to understand instructions, support independent learning and play
  • Promote inclusion of all pupils
  • Implement and contribute to learning and teaching programmes
  • Adjust activities according to pupils’ responses
  • Participate in planning and evaluation of learning activities
  • Provide feedback on pupil progress
  • Support teacher/manager in behaviour management
  • Assist with supervision of pupils out of lesson times
  • Monitor, assess and record pupil progress/activities
  • Arrange/provide resources for lessons/activities
  • Support pupils in social development and emotional well-being
  • Support pupils with SEN needs
  • Share information about pupils with other staff, parents/carers, agencies
  • Contribute to pupils plans and reports
  • Support work of volunteers and other teaching assistants
  • Support use of ICT in the curriculum
  • Undertake pupil record keeping
  • Provide cover to supervise a class and/or small group
  • Assist in escorting and supervising pupils on educational visits
  • Select, prepare and clear away classroom materials and learning areas
  • Support children’s learning through play and planned learning activities
  • Maintain a clean, safe and tidy learning environment
  • Assist pupils with eating, dressing and hygiene
  • Administer medications subject to agreement
  • Provide basic first aid
  • Monitor and manage stock and supplies
  • Provide support to pupils who have communication difficulties also where English is an additional language

Requirements:

  • GCSE in English (grade 4 / C and above)
