Early Years Practitioner – Flexible supply roles, day-to-day and short-term opportunities These flexible opportunities are ideal for Early Years Practitioners who enjoy variety and want to make a positive impact across different early years settings. Working on supply allows an Early Years Practitioner to support children’s learning and development in a range of environments, gain valuable experience, and maintain flexibility while contributing to high-quality early years provision across multiple settings. Duties as Early Years Practitioner: Support children’s learning and development in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage framework Create a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment that promotes curiosity and independence Support planned activities that encourage communication, social skills, and early learning Work with individuals and small groups to support learning through play Observe and support children’s progress and development throughout the day Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing Follow safeguarding procedures and setting policies at all times Support daily routines including play, mealtimes, and transitions Communicate effectively with colleagues to ensure continuity of care Represent Step Teachers professionally while working as an Early Years Practitioner Ideal Early Years Practitioner: Relevant early years qualification or previous experience working in an early years setting A caring, patient, and enthusiastic approach to supporting young children Good understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage framework Confidence supporting children of different ages and developmental stages Strong communication and teamwork skills Flexibility and reliability when working on supply A proactive and adaptable attitude Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children A genuine passion for early years education and development A positive and professional approach as an Early Years Practitioner Stand Out with Step Teachers At Step Teachers, we’re proud to be the only education recruitment agency in Norfolk offering Step On training, part of the County’s respected Norfolk Steps behaviour management programme to all teachers and support staff who register with us.
